Shortlist: Building High-performing Teams using Cutting edge Tech and Human Touch

CIO Vendor Organizations around the world have begun to understand the role of technology in improving their hiring outcomes. Tech-enabled recruitment solutions allow companies to improve the recruitment process by reducing the amount of time hiring managers spend on repetitive and monotonous tasks, reducing inherent human bias, bringing a level of objectivity to the process, and most importantly, being scalable as the business grows. Forward think-ing recruitment teams are increasingly adopting tech solutions to gain an edge in the talent market.

However, while most job boards offer access to copious amounts of applicant information, what they lack are methods to intelligently filter responses to job postings beyond just keyword and title matching. In a bid to tackle the traditional time intensive and bias prone methods of hiring, Shortlist makes the process dramatically more effective by automating the collection and analysis of hundreds of data points on candidates’skill, motivation and fit beyond the CV and enabling better matches.

Steering clear of traditional recruitment methods, Shortlist's approach to recruitment blends the right mix of technology and human touch. The company’s product suite combines the sourcing capabilities of a job board, screening of an assessment provider, and candidate management tools of an applicant tracking system(ATS) into one holistic solution.

Mridvika Raisinghani, Managing Director – India, explains that Shortlist's platform screens candidates for junior to mid-level roles by leveraging predictive chatbot interviews and competency-based assessments, so they can be matched with great jobs based on their demonstrated skills and interests, not just pedigree and keywords.“Each ofour product offerings, ranging from a full-service tech-backed recruiter model to lighter-touch software licensing, allows employers to efficiently and objectively identify top talent for junior to mid-level white collar roles,” elaborates Mridvika.

Shortlist’s tech team, led by CTO Sudheer Bandaru, places great emphasis on using cutting edge technology, state-of-the-art design, and empathetic candidate engagement to delight and impress candidates while making hiring decisions easier for employers. This, in turn, improves job application rates and bolsters the employer’s brand.

Despite being a relatively recent entrant into the market in 2016, the company has already catered to over 300 clients and 400,000 applicants across Africa and India. Encouraged by their progress in this space and due to requests from clients, Shortlist also has a fledgeling HR advisory and training practice that is gaining significant traction without much PR. This service was launched in response to traditional HR advisory solutions that are characterized by complex and expensive products and long implementation cycles that are more suitable for large corporates.

Having already carved a niche for itself in India and Kenya, Shortlist is currently conducting pilot projects in South Africa and the US to make objective and delightful recruitment experiences more accessible to employers and candidates around the world.
